Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra Encourage a Deeper Connection
Join Steph Szuts, certified yoga instructor at Hot Yoga 4 You, for the final class that explores the five elements through Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra. On Saturday, February 10, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, you’ll experience the air and ether elements to help connect on a deeper level.
The third part of the series arrives just before Valentine’s Day Week. The outside air is crisp, and love is actually everywhere. During this class, you’ll transition from connecting postures to deep stillness to help you reconnect with your inner-voice and higher-self.
In December, you connected to the earth element through grounding postures. Last month, you opened your hips and stimulated your abdomen to release undigested emotions. The air or wind element is associated with your chest; heart and lungs. During Yin Yoga you will hold postures like supported fish, bridge, and camel pose for an extended period of time. This will help calm and stabilize your breath.
When the air element within you is in balance you are able to give more freely, feel motivated, and express mental agility. However, when left neglected you may start to feel withdrawn, unproductive, and unfocused. Yin Yoga postures and deep breathwork allow you to become more compassionate and agile on and off the mat.
The ether element feels like stillness, emptiness, freedom, and expansion. You feel the element of space all around and within you as practice mental and physical stillness. Ether is the slight space between your breaths and the pause between postures. It’s associated with your conscious awareness and inner truth.
Strengthening peace within your Yin Yoga practice allows the boundaries of your body to blur with the space around. You may feel more light, airy, and spiritually connected. When balanced you are able to more easily self-express, accept, and communicate.
